Sand

Sand or silica sand is natural sand that has high percentage of of silica mineral usually in the form of quartz. Mostly would think that sand is used as construction material. However, it has many other uses in manufacturing of glass, in the treatment of water, as foundry sand, and in chemical and ceramics industries.

Silica sand are processed using a variety of combination of steps involving drying, screening, scrubbing, floatation, sizing, iron removal, grinding and acid leeching. The result is the quality sand which is ready for use of the type of the industry.

Sand mostly come from the mining of natural beach sand dunes and mine tailings sand. Here in Johor, Southern region of Peninsular Malaysia, sand come from the natural beach sand deposits.
